Local Authority Governors

Dr Paul Buckley

I was elected by the Local Authority to be a Governor at Parochial Primary School in 2010 and am on the Premises and Safety, and Ethos committees. I was born in Ashton and attended local schools until I went to Lancaster University, where I gained a degree in Biochemistry, specialising in genetics, and a doctorate in agricultural biochemistry.

I am the local Councillor for Ashton Hurst ward on Tameside Council and work as a Campaign Manager for a parliamentary candidate. Being a local Councillor, a member of the Hartshead Estate Home Watch committee, Deputy Chairman of the local Conservatives and a school governor doesn't leave much spare time, but what is left is taken up with cooking/baking and watching cricket on the rare days we have some sun.

I am also a co-opted governor at Holden Clough Primary school, also in Ashton under Lyne.

Term of Office: November 2018.
